Getting Here:
By Our 12 Seater Minivan/Shuttle Bus, ~ 1 - 1.5 Hours:
Meet at Nam Phou Fountain, by the Scandinavian Bakery, in the centre of Vientiane, at 11:00 (AM) to get on the Ban Pako shuttle bus.
But you have to call
020 - 9729 4966 (Lao/English) to arrange the ride,
a day or so in advance.
Cost: 85,000KIP per one way (Per Person, up to 11 Guests)
By Car, Motorcycle, Bike, Option I:
Take route 13 south from Vientiane. Turn left at km 24 and follow the signs to Ban Lao Pako (~30 km). Go all the way by car or leave it at Ban Somsamai and enjoy the beautiful 30 min raft ride (30,000 KIP/ Person, up to 10-12 Guests, per raft), downstream to the lodge.
The Local Boatman, in Somsamai, Mr. Peang, will charge you the same, but minimum 60,000 KIP, for up to 5 Guests in a Longtail Boat.
By Car,Motorcycle, Bike, Option II:
Take route 13 south from Vientiane. Turn left at km 40.
Ban Khoksa, right after the air-field. Go 4,5 km, turn left at the 4-way crossing; turn right after 6,5 km, at a 3-way crossing (you will see a Petrol-station on your right), go a further 1km, turn left at the sign "Ban Lao Pako".
By Song Taew:
Take a SHARED Song Taew (~25,000 KIP/Person)from Talat Sao (morning market) to Ban Somsamai and enjoy the boat ride to Ban Lao Pako.
(Private Song Taew is 150,000+++, 1-Way)
